Melissa Gutiérrez
Melissa, a Los Angeles native, is combining her passion for science and environmental justice in her work at Calcarea.
Her interest in climate solutions began during her time at Caltech, where she worked on various paleoclimate and oceanography projects in the Adkins lab.
A short stint in the oil and gas industry following graduation motivated her to seek opportunities that promoted an equitable and sustainable energy transition, which brought her back to Los Angeles to become the first employee at Calcarea.
Outside of the lab and office, Melissa is an avid runner who also enjoys mapping out the best restaurants wherever she goes.
